En la grabación de Somos el mundo participaron 70 reconocidos artistas latinos y los ingresos obtenidos se destinarán a beneficio de las víctimas del terremoto de Haití. El antioqueño Juanes interpretó las primeras estrofas seguido de Ricky Martin, mientras Shakira, Pitbull y Daddy Yankee interpretaron otras estrofas de la canción. El tema Somos el Mundo, producido por Emilio Estefan y Quincy Jones junto a Univisión, también cuenta con las voces de los mexicanos Luis Miguel, Gloria Trevi y Belinda. Otros artistas que participaron en la grabación fueron los colombianos Fonseca y Jorge Celedón y estrellas como Andy García, Aventura, Banda El Recodo, Carlos Santana, Chayanne, Cristian Castro, Fonseca, Gilberto Santa Rosa, Gloria Estefan, Johnny Pacheco, José Feliciano, Juan Luis Guerra, Luis Enrique, Luis Fonsi, Paulina Rubio y Thalía, entre otros.

Esta canción es sencillamente el resultado de los que la unión puede llegar a hacer por un mismo fin, la canción es excelente, pero viéndola con su respectivo video hace mas emotivo el sentido de la canción porque ver a tantas estrellas de la música juntas sólo se ve en esta composición de Michael Jackson y Lionel Richie, quien en el encabezado del foro no lo nombran desmeritando así su participación, es por decir exótico ya que unir a estas 70 personas es si no es imposible muy difícil por el costo que esta implicaría.

Its beautiful to see famous artist helping Haiti, they make a chain and they transmit a message that together we can do many things, beautiful things, if we work together we can change the world and help other people.
In 1985 Michael Jackson and other artist did the same for Africa and was fantastic too

I think these artists are doing a very nice event with these songs.
we see that we can all work with this cause because they are people who are homeless, who were made homeless and since one can help with even a pound of rice is an act of solidarity and love for our brothers, as both the Latin and Americans are very nice helping with this event.
